The Kindle is as advertised. It quickly downloads your selections. Selection of books and other material is extensive. Its operation is straightforward and intuitive.
The screen is impressive and can be read even in bright sunlight. The battery seems to be up to the job. One issue is that our first download came through incompletely. The second one I tried was complete and no problem. Our house needs two Kindles so my wife and I can read at the same time.

The reason I decided to try the Kindle was because of the different print sizes offered. Having poor vision, I was always buying hard cover, large print books which are heavy to carry around and take up alot of space.
Now that I have the Kindle I use the largest print size and have many books taking up no room and weighing only 10oz.
Many books don't come in the large print format, but with Kindle you can convert any book to large print making it easier to see.

I knew I was hooked when I reached up to turn the page just like a paper book. I had to chuckle. With all of the negative noise I have heard about this device, I find that it is really quite easy to use and also very comfortable to read. Of course there will be a new one and it will be better and probably cheaper. But if you have an opportunity to use one, I am pretty sure you will be won over. My Kindle and I recently returned from a 3 week vacation across the pond. I purchased it a few days before I left and loaded it up with books I thought I might have time to read. It was my savior. Worst vacation ever but I had more than enough books to occupy me. Best investment ever. I have had my kindle for a month now and I absolutely love it. I have the same negatives that others have. The buttons are too big and you hit them all the time by accident. I love the fact you can play music, I would like to see some basic controls for the music in the next revision.
The battery life is fantastic with the wireless off, I get almost 2 weeks out of mine. I read about a book a week with it now. I am taking it camping next month with me and plan to download a few books ... Read More
